How a solemnisation is conducted
1.
Exchanging of marriage gifts (hantaran) between representatives of the bride and groom before the solemnisation, if any.
2.
A sermon (Khutbah) on marriage by the Kadi.
3.
The Bride's Wali appoints the Kadi to solemnise the marriage or otherwise agrees to solemnise the marriage himself.
4.
Solemnisation (Akad' Nikah).
5.
Taklik, reading of special marriage conditions by the Groom.
6.
Prayers by the Kadi(Dua').
7.
Groom giving the bride the Mahr (mas kahwin).
8.
Collection of the marriage certificate (for marriages conducted in ROMM) if couples have completed their Marriage Guidance Course.
 
Important Note:
If you have not attended your marriage guidance course, please ensure that you have obtained your marriage collection slip from your Kadi/Naib Kadi. You are strongly advised to bring along this collection slip together with your NRIC and marriage guidance courses certificates and present it to the Receptionist upon collection at the Registry.
 
What you need to do when receiving your marriage certificate
When you received your marriage certificate, please ensure the following
Check that all NRIC numbers, names, solemnisation venue and date are correct and are spelt correctly
Seek rectification immediately if there is error, if your marriage is in ROMM or by the next working day if it is held outside ROMM
